Creative Discipleship and Church Planting

The reality is there are a number of locations on the Upstate district that could be locations for new church ministries. Some of these locations are in cities where our church representation is not enough. And then there are other communities where the nearest Nazarene church is not within reasonable distances. Church planting is not new on Upstate and we have to recognize that previous attempts haven't always met expectations. But we can learn from the mistakes and successes of the past so that we can wisely address the needs we face today. To help us with this initiative the Upstate District has called Pastors AJ and Chelsea Fry to help. The Fry's have been missionaries in the Dominican Republic for the Church of the Nazarene and have been working with the Genesis Project in training church planters.

Initiative Goals:

  • Pray, plan, and develop the goals for this movement on the district over the next 18 months. This will potentially entail identifying possible future church locations, the creation of learning laboratories for pastors, students and lay people to be trained in creative discipleship approaches, the birth of a center for training and equipping of leaders with the goal of starting new ministries and/or churches, and discussion about a non-profit ministry center to partner with local churches

Do you want to see new ministries and churches? You can help support the Fry's.
